Dr. Charles S. Hill, M.D.

With over 23 years in private practice, Dr. Charles Hill is a Fellowship trained glaucoma sub specialist. He has a practice concentration in glaucoma and diabetic eye care. Dr. Hill is the Chief of Ophthalmology at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur and has been voted one of Atlanta's Top Doctors by Atlanta Magazine.

After earning a B.S. degree from Alabama State University in Montgomery, Ala., Dr. Hill earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. His post-graduate training began with a surgery internship in Kalamazoo, Mich., followed by an assistantship in ophthalmology at St. Louis City Hospital, in St. Louis, Mo. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass., and then went on to complete clinical and research fellowship training in glaucoma at Emory University Medical School.

Dr. Hill has been on several medical missions to St. Lucia in the West Indies, where he also worked for three months at Victoria Hospital. He was named an Honorary Ambassador of Health to St. Lucia for his dedication and service to the people.

Dr. Hill is an avid sportsman who enjoys hunting, fishing and gardening in his free time.

Laurene T. Hill - Managing Partner A native of Philadelphia, Ms. Hill is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. She is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, and has completed numerous certifications in Medical Office Management, Insurance Billing and Office Automation.

Lisa Tierra, O.D. - Ophthalmic Technician Dr. Tierra was a practicing Optometrist in Manila, Philippines for over 7 years. She obtained her U.S. Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. At Hill's Eye Clinic, she specializes in Ophthalmic Diagnostic Testing and Ocular Photography.

Lorenzo Sonera - Optician A native of California, Mr. Sonera manages the Optical Shop and Lab at Hill's Eye Clinic. Lorenzo has worked as manager at Pearl Vision, Sears Optical, Kaiser, WalMart, and Lens Crafters. He has been a practicing Optician for 15 years.

Vanessa Padgette - Secretary/ Receptionist Ms. Padgette was born in Mount Vernon, New York, and raised in Philadelphia. A graduate of Thompson Institute, she has over 20 years experience in the medical field. In addition to her front office duties, Ms. Padgette is also responsible for all insurance inquiries and surgery scheduling.

Patrick Gray - Ophthalmic Assistant, Scribe Raised in Decatur, Ga, Mr. Gray is a 2007 graduate of Tuskegee Institute (Pre-Med). He assists Dr. Hill with patient care and diagnostic tests.
